The US Province of the Missionary Oblates in San Antonio, TX is seeking an Assistant to the
Vocation Director of the OMI, US Province to provide support for the vocations programs.

Position: Assistant to Vocation Director of the OMI, US Province

Position Status: Non-Exempt – Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The position will have the responsibility for maintaining open lines of communication via e-mail or telephone with those inquiring about the vocation program and with the Vocation Director as well as manage advertising, creation of monthly bulletins, assisting the webmaster with content, help ensure Oblate visibility and coordinate activities.

Work Hours: In office as required, remote work as needed. 20 hours per week

Requirements of the Position:

  • The Assistant Vocation Minister will: Manage communication with all vocational inquiries including:
  • Communication with initial inquiries from discerners, Connect discerners with the Vocation Director.
  • Manage Advertising: Create and design Vocation posters, brochures, holy cards, banners, pens, advertising items used in Vocation Fairs, Congress and Come & See events.
  • Mail and distribute material to all Oblate areas.
  • Publications through OMI institutions – Bulletins/web blasts.
  • Research effective means of other ways to advertise.
  • Create monthly bulletin “Oblate Vocation Corner” entries for all USP OMI Institutions.
  • Assist webmaster in updating content on and manage electronic media content.
  • Update vocational promotional materials: Help ensure Oblate visibility and maintain contacts for vocations and donors – and coordinate vocational activities through: NRVC, Chicago Archdiocesan Vocation Association, San Antonio Archdiocese.
  • Meet monthly to summarize monthly activities with the Vocation Director.
  • Posting pertinent communications on upcoming ministerial events.
  • Post current event news with photographs as those events happen.
  • Post relevant resource material as given by the Committee members.
  • Maintain a frequent schedule of social media postings (2-3 times per week).
  • Maintain frequent communication with USP Internet Webmaster to maintain an updated section on the Province website.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, required. Associate degree or higher, preferred. Experience: 2 years related work experience

Skills: Must familiar with pastoral ministry trends in the Roman Catholic Church and an adequate familiarity with the mission and Charism of the Missionary Oblates and their mission work.

  • Position will require moderate travel to attend retreats, RE Congress and vocation fairs in Texas and other states.
  • Good judgement and ability to work independently, take initiative to plan, organize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a teamplayer, be flexible, adapt to shifting priorities, and prioritize work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents; read, write, and understand English well; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated writing and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to access a wide range of sources and networks for information.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and social media web platforms.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy.
  • Spanish not required but highly desirable.
