Daily Prayer 5/29

Memorial of Blessed Joseph Gérard, OMI

Morning Offering:

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works,
joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in
union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the
salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians. In
particular, we offer up the intentions of the Holy Father this month for the
formation of religious and seminarians. We pray that religious women and
men, and seminarians, grow in their own vocations through their human,
pastoral, spiritual and community formation, leading them to be credible
witnesses to the gospel. Amen

Daily Prayer:

Father, You continue to call men to total service, commitment and dedication: men open to the Spirit who will bring forth Jesus in the world today through the gift of priestly ministry. May those You call hear Your gentle voice and have the courage to respond with wholehearted confidence and trust. Stir up the grace of a vocation in the hearts of many generous young men so the work of the Missionary Oblates may both continue and flourish in the Church. Amen

Blessed Fr. Joseph Gérard, OMI, left his native France at age 22 to serve with the Missionary Oblates in South Africa, where he would spend the rest of his life. For more than 60 years, he ministered to the people of the region, especially the sick and elderly. Up to a month before his death on May 29, 1914, Fr. Joseph was riding on horseback over mountain tracks to care for people in need.

The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate spread the Good News of salvation and spend their lives in service to the poor and abandoned in our missions in 70 countries around the world. Will you support the Missionary Oblates today as we minister to people in poverty?
