World Diabetes Day
Father, so many of our lives are touched by diabetes. Today I pray for those who struggle daily with diabetes. Ease their worries, Lord. May their focus be not on their disease and their difficulties, but on living healthy and fulfilling lives. Give them strength on days they do not feel well, and help them to understand and appreciate the bodies in which they have been blessed. Keep them safe and healthy as they go about their days. Amen.
Luke 18: 35-43
As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
This week the Oblates in China are praying for you.
In the city of Guangzhou the Oblates have opened the Angel’s Love Center. Angel’s Love provides a place for children of migrant workers to study and complete their homework. There are about five million migrants living in Guangzhou. Most came looking for work. Those that come with children have an extra hardship because their children are provided only a limited education. The Angel’s Love Center is helping to reduce the effects of this injustice.
