Dear Friends in Christ,
As we approach the sacred season of Advent and the close of another year, I find myself deeply reflective of the transformative ways God has worked through each of us this year. I invite you to join me in prayer for my needs and those of my loved ones, especially as we focus on nurturing faith in the hearts of the next generation.
A Heartfelt Story: Oscar Donahue’s Journey
Let me share the inspiring story of Oscar Donahue, a remarkable leader of the Young Adult group at Holy Cross Parish in Buffalo, NY. At the age of 17, Oscar discovered a welcoming community among the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, forming lasting friendships with seminarians. His faith journey was further enriched by attending World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, in 2016, an experience that profoundly deepened his commitment to Christ.
More recently, Oscar and the Young Adult group participated in World Youth Day in Portugal, fostering bonds of unity and faith. Under the guidance of Fr. Felix Nyambe, OMI, and Michele Divito, Oscar took the initiative to form a Young Adult group in 2022, recognizing the essential role of youth in the Church.
Their dedication to faith is evident through monthly gatherings for Adoration, Bible Study, and community service at St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. Living out the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod, they offer love and dignity to all, especially the marginalized and abandoned in Buffalo.
