Happy Feast Day to all the Oblate Family!!
Yesterday we celebrated St. Eugene De Mazenod, founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The Oblates are missionaries to the poor and the most abandoned working with the poorest communities in nearly 60 countries. Five years ago, I had the blessing of being Ordained an Oblate Priest. My first assignment was to Tijuana Mexico, to the largest and poorest parish in the diocese of Tijuana. It has been a blessing to follow the example of GREAT OBLATES who have been a part of this amazing mission.
Thanks to the support of the Oblate friends and partners in our Tijuana mission we provide more than 50,000 food baskets for the poorest families every year. Thousands of people also received medical and dental services from our clinic. Our Youth Center provide SPIRITUAL, psychological and academic support for hundreds of youth in our community. Last year we gave over 130 scholarships to students from our community who soon will be doctors, dentist, lawyers, engineers, psychologists and other professionals. Our school for children with special needs continues to help children with down syndrome, autism and other special needs. Our community center offers English classes, reading and writing classes, a GED program, guitar classes, Singing Lessons, Taekwondo lessons and many other programs! Most important we aim to help develop leaders committed with their faith, their Church and community. Thank you for being part of our OBLATE FAMILY! We follow the GREAT example of St. Eugene and with God´s help and your help we are transforming communities!
