A Major Achievement

This graduation ceremony represents a monumental achievement for the college, its students, and the community. It symbolizes the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. The graduates, predominantly from the local area, have acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Ministerial Praise

Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Charles Milupi commended the Catholic Church’s contributions to improving lives in Zambia. Minister of Health Elijah Muchuma emphasized the significance of the college in addressing healthcare disparities in Western Zambia.

Mongu Diocese Bishop Evans Chinyemba led a thanksgiving mass, praising community and partner efforts. He urged the graduates to remain committed to serving their communities with compassion and integrity.

Established in 2021, Sancta Maria College of Nursing and Midwifery was born out of a vision to address the dire healthcare needs in Western Zambia. The Loreto Sisters, in partnership with the Medical Women International Association (MWIA) and the Noel and Carmel O’Brien Family Foundation, transformed the old Mission Hospital site into a state-of-the-art nursing and midwifery college.

The college’s presence has brought hope to a region plagued by poverty, limited access to healthcare, and poor infrastructure. By training local students, the college encourages them to stay and work in the region, addressing the critical shortage of skilled healthcare professionals.

– Provides tertiary education and professional training to local youth, promoting economic development and equality.
– Prioritizes female student recruitment, empowering women in the community.
– Fosters a hub for health education, attracting complementary businesses and health clinics.
– Addresses healthcare disparities in Western Zambia, improving health outcomes for marginalized communities.

To meet growing demand, the college is embarking on a new phase of construction, including:
– A third 20-room dormitory to accommodate an additional 60 students.
– Extra classrooms to enhance learning facilities.
– Fencing to ensure student privacy and security.

Please help us continue to promote the careers of these graduates so that they can make our community a prosperous place.
