The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows

Belleville, IL

Founded originally in 1961 as a site of devotion to Our Lady of the Snows, the Shrine offers a tranquil place of peace to hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year. We accomplish this ministry through spiritual programs, 12 devotional sites, a Catholic gift shop, a retreat center, and daily Masses at the Church of Our Lady of the Snows.

This year we opened the museum exhibit Arctic Wings and A Shrine in order to open people’s hearts and minds to the history and charism of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in North America, to the history of the Shrine, and to a deeper relationship with Our Lady.

The Shrine Grounds span 200 acres and are open to daily to our guests.
