St. Mary Major in Rome

In the middle of the fourth century A. D. a wealthy Christian couple had a dream in which the Blessed Virgin appeared and told them to build a church in her honor. They would know the location because it would be covered in snow. That same night, August 5, snow fell on a nearby mountaintop. This church, now the Basilica of St. Mary, is the original site of Our Lady of the Snows.

An Our Lady of the Snows Candle will be lit for your intentions at the Basilica of St. Mary Major in Rome, Italy.
