Missionary Oblates Mimic Jesus’ Sacred heart and His Love for Humanity
Father Andrzej Madej, OMI, Superior of the mission of Turkmenistan, exemplifies the Sacred Heart of Jesus, God’s boundless and passionate love for humanity. Devotion to the Sacred Heart by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate springs from the passion of our founder, St. Eugene de Mazenod. That devotion is at the heart of our charism to help the abandoned and oppressed.
As we prepare to celebrate the Novena of the Sacred Heart, as well as the Mass on Father’s Day, we want to bless the special men in your life. As we do so, we ask that you bless the Missionary Oblates who serve in difficult and risky ministries.
“When I arrived 25 years ago there were only a handful of Catholic faithful. Over time I saw a community rise before my eyes,” said Fr. Andrzej. “Being a witness of this birth was a great grace of God because it means having participated in a birth that was troubled but full of hope.” The Oblates are still the only priests in the country. When they celebrate Mass, there isn’t another Catholic liturgy being celebrated within 1,000 miles in all directions — it is a spiritual oasis in the desert.
The Oblate mission in Turkmenistan is funded almost entirely by benefactors from the United States. On Father’s Day, Fr. Andrzej wants to pray for you and the special fathers in your life. Just follow these steps to make this a truly special Father’s Day:
Submit your petitions below to have your fathers remembered in at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows where they will be prayed for by the Oblates and Shrine pilgrims for an entire year. I will also make sure that Fr. Andrzej receives the names of these special fathers.
Make a donation in support of the Missionary Oblates who bring the love of Our Father to poor and needy people every day in Turkmenistan and 70 other countries. In appreciation for your donation of $25 or more you can receive Water from the Sacred Grotto in Lourdes, France, known for its healing properties, in a convenient travel applicator or honor a special man at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows by having a Votive Candle lit there in his honor.
Your prayers and support truly make you a co-missionary in our work among the poor, not just far away in Turkmenistan but also here at home.
P.S. Learn how to have your father’s name engraved on a plaque at the Shrine’s Father’s Memorial Wall. Click Here for information on memorials.
