Lenten Generosity is a Time to Give Back Through Faith and Service
Lent is more than giving up—it’s about giving back. True sacrifice means offering ourselves fully to Christ, not just abstaining from comforts but also giving to others through acts of love and service. Instead of focusing on what we lack, Lent invites us to focus on what we can share.
Imagine the light in someone’s eyes when they receive a warm meal after days of hunger. Envision the relief of a person finding shelter and safety from the harsh elements. Think of the solace found in spiritual guidance, as faith brings hope to those in despair. These are not just acts of charity—they are lifelines of love and compassion that change lives. The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate embody Lenten generosity.
Bringing Faith Hope and Care to the Most Abandoned
The Missionary Oblates dedicate their lives to serving the most abandoned by providing food, shelter, spiritual guidance, and hope to those in need. Their global mission reaches orphaned children, displaced families, and disaster-stricken communities, providing education, medical care, and faith formation for 199 years. Through these ministries, they restore dignity and bring the light of Christ to those in need. Your generosity can make a significant impact during this season of reflection and renewal.
They currently serve in 70 countries, bringing hope and support to global communities, including places like:
- Mexico: where they have developed an inclusive education for children to develop life skills and promote community integration.
- Philippines: in which they provide emergency disaster relief and long-term support to communities affected by natural disasters, helping them rebuild their lives.
- New Orleans: here they operate a homeless shelter and soup kitchen providing warm meals and a safe haven from the elements.
