Please support St. Leopold Parish in Shangombo, WP, Zambia.
Shangombo Oblate Mission lies at the border between Zambia and Angola, in one of the most remote and underserved regions of the Catholic Diocese of Livingstone. It began humbly in the mid-1970s, when a group of refugees fleeing war in Angola settled in the area, bringing with them their Catholic faith. For many years, priests would travel a couple of times a year to celebrate sacraments with the faithful, journeying over 200 kilometers on rough, barely passable roads.
Last May, a tragic act of arson severely damaged the mission. Key structures were destroyed, including the guest houses, security fences, hammer mill, and the church hall. These spaces are essential to both the spiritual and practical life of the community. Although the suspect has been apprehended, the burden of recovery falls on a mission that is already stretched thin.
We are seeking to raise $30,000 USD to help rebuild. These facilities are not just buildings; they are centers of worship, education, and refuge. Especially for the poor, youth, and displaced.
