Fr. David Uribe, OMI’s Back-to-School blessing video

The start of a new school year is more than sharpened pencils and open books—it’s a moment for prayer, hope, and reflection. For families and educators alike, this season carries both anticipation and quiet concern.

The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate invite you to join us in a Back-to-School Prayer Chain—a space to lift up your intentions for the students and teachers in your life and entrust them to God’s loving care.

To begin this spiritual offering, Fr. David Uribe, OMI shares a blessing to guide the year ahead:

“As we begin a new academic school year, we pray You fill the hearts and minds of new students going to school for the first time with joy and excitement, not fear and dread. For those returning to school or university for continued learning, may this year be a year of growth in knowledge, understanding and formation. Bless the teachers, professors, administrators and all those that make it possible for classrooms, schools and institutions to function. Please keep everyone safe each school day on each school campus. Guide every step in our human growth while making us one with You always. Holy Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Knowledge and Fortitude, be upon every student in this new school year.  Amen”

Following his prayer, Fr. David invites you to submit your own intentions—to name the students, teachers, and families you hold in your heart, and to place their hopes into God’s hands.

Send your prayer intentions today and be part of a spiritual community walking in faith alongside every learner and every leader.

Prayer Intention Submission

The Missionary Oblates are here to pray for you, particularly in challenging times. Through prayer, we find strength and courage.
