Daily Prayer 8/17

Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month.  Amen

Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious, or ideological reasons.

Gospel Reading of the Day:  Luke 12:49-53

Daily Prayer:

Almighty Lord, You came to bring fire to the earth—ignite that flame within me. Let me not fear division when I stand for Your truth, even among those I love. Give me courage to follow You, though it may cost peace in this world. Help me discern the times and walk boldly in Your purpose. May Your Spirit guide me through the conflict, with love and conviction. Amen
