October 2024 Issue
From the Provincial, Fr. Raymond Cook, OMI
Dear Friends in Christ,
As I continue to make my way around the U.S. Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, I am so grateful to witness the many ways in which the charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod is at work in our various ministries, parishes, shrines, retreat centers and in the Oblate communities of priests and brothers. I hope this issue of the Oblate World magazine continues to give you insights, or how I like to say, “windows” into how this charism is at work.
We continue the academic year with our men in formation as they move through the rigors of study and community. It’s important for those studying our way of life to witness to ministry here in the U.S., especially those who join us from other parts of the world. It truly is a family we create through the bonds of faith, hope and charity. Continue to pray for their positive response to the call made by the Lord in our Oblate way of life. I am grateful to receive their oblations (vows) as provincial and to witness ordinations to the diaconate and priesthood. Holy Mother Church wins!
Our places of mission continue to offer life-altering programs, prayers, devotions, sacraments and community life. Whether in the U.S., Tijuana, Zambia and/or Rome, the charism is moving others to find the Lord in their own lives as communities come together for praise and service. Read what’s happening in these Oblate parishes and missions.
I want to take a moment now and express my gratitude for the words of encouragement I received regularly from family, friends, collaborators and supporters/donors of the Missionary Oblates. It takes a village to build up the Kingdom of God.
In Jesus Christ and Mary Immaculate,
