October 20 is Mission Sunday

This Sunday, October 20, is Mission Sunday. As those who follow the charism of St Eugene, mission is at the heart of who we are. This Sunday, as we pray together for those who serve in mission, pray that the Holy Spirit strengthen us as missionaries. The messages from Fr. Chicho and Fr. Rensberg for Mission Sunday remind us of how we are missionaries-
Our whole Congregation exists for mission. For our Founder and his first companions, being missionaries meant more than preaching in the most abandoned places. It meant visiting the homes of those who never came to church. It meant not only going to distant lands but reaching those who had yet to hear the Good News. Inspired by their witness, let us reflect on and live out Constitution 5. Let us give our best to those on the margins, to those who challenge us most, to those whose lives cry out for the hope only Christ can give. With renewed zeal and generous hearts, may the Lord grant us a fresh awakening of our missionary vocation. – Fr. Chicho Rois, Oct 8, 2025
Our vocation is a gift sustained by the generous faith of God’s people, who desire that our witness reflect their hope. Evangelization, therefore, is accomplished not only by what we do, but even more by who we are. – Fr. Charles Rensberg, OMI October 14, 2025
Pray this Sunday that our lives may reflect the hope others have in us, especially those on the margins. We continue to support missionaries everywhere, and work to be missionaries where we are.
St. Eugene DeMazenod, pray for us.
