Day 8 of Novena to Our Lady of the Snows
Scripture:
“Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:39
“I will raise them up on the last day.” — John 6:40
Contemplation:
Bring your grief to Mary. Let her hold your sorrow with tenderness.
Reflection:
There are moments when grief settles into the heart…
quietly…
deeply…
like a weight that cannot be moved.
A name you miss.
A presence no longer there.
A Love that feels unfinished.
And in that sorrow…
questions rise—
where are they now?
where is God in this pain?
will this ache ever soften?
Yet the Word speaks into this very place:
“Nothing can separate us from the love of God…”
Not loss.
Not death.
Not the silence that follows.
Nothing.
What feels like an ending…
is not the end.
Christ says,
“All who come to me…
I will not reject.”
And He promises—
“I will raise them up.”
Even now…
beyond what eyes can see…
those you love are held in a love stronger than death itself.
Our Lady, Queen of Peace…
you who stood at the foot of the Cross,
holding sorrow the world could not understand,
draw near to every grieving heart.
When tears come… stay close.
When memories ache… bring gentle peace.
When questions linger…
hold them in your quiet trust.
Grief does not mean love is lost.
It means love remains…
reaching beyond what can be touched.
And within this sorrow…
something sacred unfolds.
A deeper hope.
A quiet assurance.
A love that does not end…
but is transformed.
You are not alone in your grief.
God is near.
Love is not defeated.
And even now—peace can begin to grow within you.
Prayer:
Queen of Peace,
you who stood at the foot of the Cross,
hold close all who grieve today.
Comfort those whose hearts are broken,
those who miss a loved one deeply,
and those who struggle to find meaning in loss.
Remind us that nothing can separate us
from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Strengthen our faith in the Resurrection,
and assure us that those we love
are held securely in God’s eternal embrace.
Bring peace to our sorrow,
hope to our mourning,
and rest to our weary hearts.
Amen.
