U.S. Convocation 2025: Becoming Missionaries of Hope

For the first time since 2007, the U.S. Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate is holding its triennial Convocation.

Courage To Leave Nothing Undared

This year’s theme, Becoming Missionaries of Hope, invites a renewed look at who we are and how we serve. Fr. Ray COOK, Provincial of the US Province, is asking participants to reflect on what may need to be let go in order to respond more freely and faithfully to the needs of the poor and most abandoned. Convocation will include time for prayer, conversation, and decision-making. Over the past year, members of the Province have taken part in a shared discernment process. The proposals being brought forward reflect that ongoing dialogue and express a desire for renewal grounded in lived experience.

Listening, Challenging, Recommitting

With different voices and perspectives, several speakers will accompany the journey of reflection, including Fr. Luis Ignacio ROIS ALONSO, Fr. Frank SANTUCCI, and Angela Burgess. Angela will pose a question that is as simple as it is unsettling: Are you on the right bus? A way of shaking us up and inviting us to question the purpose and direction we’re taking.

More than a formal meeting, the US Convocation 2025 is a time to reconnect, pray, and immerse the province in active synodal listening. Being together as brothers is part of the mission itself. It is a space to pause, look closely, and move forward with clarity. If we are being called to become missionaries of hope, then Arizona gives us a place to notice the “green shoots” already pointing toward something new.ho support and pray for them also discover their own quiet moments to hear the loving voice of God—who forever invites us to follow Him who gives us life.
